About Us

This Movement partially came out of "The Circle of Grandparents" the Grandparents Club, a group of Grandparents, who are a part of PPU Portland Parent Union. COG offers a wonderful opportunity for grandparents of all ages to make a difference in the lives of students. As a grandparent, we have a vast knowledge to share with our students and other Grands. Your insight will be greatly appreciated. Pease contact PPU and/or fill out the volunteer form. During our journey we discovered in the N./NE. Portland we witness about 20,000 families raised by Grandparents.(Thank you Pat Eck for the Stats.)

Our Director of PPU and Her Husband were compelled to do Home-schooling for their Great Grandson who was to start Pre-school when the school implemented virtual learning. His services were no longer available because of COVID. The Warrens then decided to share their journey and tools with other Grandparents who are doing Distance Learning.

During this time PPU reconnected with Pat and Jan Eck  (Our PPU Grands Buddies) who had gathered extensive knowledge and data about Grands raising Grandchildren as well as being Grands themselves. They knew of - or are connected with many elder services. They both are retired teachers and Principal. It made sense to combine our knowledge and resources. Pat and Jan became our connectors to services and are Co-Founding this movement along with PPU.
